Privacy Policy
FCHVS Nepal is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of data privacy and patient confidentiality in community health service delivery across Nepal's wards and municipalities. This Privacy Policy details how maternal, child, and household health data recorded by Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) is gathered, processed, and safeguarded in accordance with the Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) of Nepal and Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) public health data guidelines.
1. Information Recorded in the Field
Female Community Health Volunteers collect only health information authorized by national public health protocols to facilitate grassroots service delivery:
- Household & Ward Registry: Family demographics, head of household details, ward number, mother's identity, and emergency contact numbers.
- Maternal & Newborn Care Records: Antenatal Care (ANC) visit schedules, Expected Date of Delivery (EDD), birth preparedness plans, birthing center delivery records, and Postnatal Care (PNC) checkups.
- Child Health & Nutrition (CB-IMNCI): Assessment data for Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI breath count), fever, diarrhea, dehydration status, Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) nutritional ratings, and routine immunization progress.
- Community Commodity Logs: Distribution records for Iron and Folic Acid (IFA), Vitamin A capsules, Albendazole deworming, ORS packets, Zinc tablets, and family planning contraceptives.
2. Purpose and Public Health Utilization
All field data collected is used solely to enhance healthcare outcomes for community members:
- To track pregnant women and ensure completion of all 8 recommended ANC checkups and safe institutional deliveries.
- To identify high-risk maternal and neonatal danger signs and coordinate prompt referrals to Health Posts and hospitals.
- To ensure every child receives timely life-saving immunizations and nutrition interventions.
- To generate consolidated monthly reports for Ward Health Coordinators and Nepal's Health Management Information System (HMIS / DHIS2).
Field health data collected by FCHVs belongs to the public health domain of Nepal and will NEVER be sold, leased, or commercialized to third parties, private advertisers, or commercial entities.
3. Data Storage & Offline Protection
We employ rigorous security protocols suitable for frontline community health systems:
- On-Device Encryption: Field logs and household registries cached on volunteer smartphones or tablets are encrypted using AES-256 to ensure data remains secure even if a device is misplaced.
- Secure Data Transmission: Synchronization between field devices, Health Post portals, and municipal servers uses encrypted TLS/SSL connections.
- Role-Based Access: Access to identifiable patient logs is restricted to accredited FCHVs, Ward Health Coordinators, and authorized Health Post clinical staff.
4. Community Rights & Confidentiality
Every patient and family served by an FCHV possesses fundamental rights to health privacy:
- Dignity & Confidentiality: Community health counseling, family planning choices, and maternal consultations during home visits and Aama Samuha meetings are conducted with strict respect for personal privacy.
- Accuracy & Updates: Community members may review and update their household records during routine volunteer home visits.
